Sam Duane, 42, is entering his 8th season as Head Basketball Coach at Corona. Duane brings over 21 seasons of coaching experience to the Aztec program, 14 as a head coach. Duane’s previous experience includes being the JV and Varsity Assistant coach at Corona with stops at Phoenix College and Mesa Community College as an assistant before becoming the first head coach at Mesquite High School in Gilbert. Duane has lead the Aztecs to the state tournament in his each of his seven seasons as head coach including leading the Aztecs to the State Championship game in 2006.  Coach Duane has an  overall win/loss record of 189-122. Coach Duane graduated from Corona in 1986. He received his Bachelors degree in Exercise Science from Grand Canyon University in 1992 and a Masters in Education Leadership from NAU in 2002. Coach Duane teaches Physical Education at Corona. His coaching philosophy is “to help instill the qualities of commitment, discipline, work ethic and responsibility in our players that will help them be successful in their future lives.” Coach Duane would like to thank his wife, Carrie, for all the support and encouragement she provides him throughout the season.
